An old irish blessing

May the blessing of light be upon you. Light without and light within. May the blessed sunshine
shine on you And warm your heart till it glows like a great peat fire. So the stranger may come
and warm himself at it, and also a friend.

And may the light shine out of the two eyes of you like a candle set in two windows of a house,

bidding the waunderer to come in out of the storm.

And may the blessings of the rain be on you- the soft sweet rain. May it fall upon your spirit so

that all the little flowers spring up, and shed their sweetness on the air.

And may the blessing of the earth be upon you- the great, round earth: May you ever have a

kindly greeting for them you pass as you are going along the roads. May the earth be soft under

you when you rest upon it, tired at the end of the day. And may it rest easy over you when, at

the last, you lay out under it. May it rest so lightly over you that your soul may be out from under

it quickly- and up and off and on its way to God.  - Author unknown

Edmund Campion said of the Irish: they are thus inclined: religious,

frank, amourous, ireful, sufferable to pains infinite, very glorious,

excellent horsemen, delighted with wares, great alms givers, surpassing

in hospitality. They are sharp whitted, lovers of learning, capable to study

where unto they bend themselves, constant in travail, adventureous,

intractable, kind hearted, and secret in displeasure.

Irish Healing

Oh, what sadness fills my heart,

Oh, that it not be torn apart,

this land of verdant hills and mire.

Will it remain Rocky's Eire?

"To know beauty one must live with it",

thats the Gaelic proverb of wit.

Spring brings hope as it bursts forth,

to the Republic and the North.

Sunbeams of gold do herald

O'er Connemaras hills of emerald

Dawn of splendor in the morn'n.

Enchanted skies in the even'n.

O'er the guns of Sinn Fein's ringing

the 75 fiddles of Martin are singing,

"Reach out and take us in hand.

May our music heal Erin's land."

From Skellig Michael's western stone

to Belfast's Lough it is 'Ourselves Alone'

who must heal the past hurts of Belfast,

or destroy our children as we have our past  -J. Rocky Eire

Marriage Blessing -

May joy and peace surround you both, contentment latch your door, and happiness bewitch you now

and God bless you evermore.

Travelers Blessings -

May the Irish hills caress you, may her lakes and rivers bless you, may the luck of the Irish enfold you,

may the blessings of God enfold you.

May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your

face, may the rain fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in the palm

of his hand.

Life Blessing -

May those who love us,love us and those that don't love us, may God turn their hearts:and if He doesn't

turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles, so we'll know them by their limping.

Sigmond Freud said of the Irish: the Irish cannot be helped by psychoanalysis. One thing is sure, the Irish will never change.

St. Patrick's Breastplate

I bind unto myself today
The strong Name of the Trinity,
By invocation of the same
The Three in One and One in Three...

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

I bind unto myself the Name,
The strong Name of the Trinity,
By invocation of the same,
The Three in One and One in Three.
By Whom all nature hath creation,
Eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
Salvation is of Christ the Lord.
