Shall we go now?
Have we been here long enough?
Or has it been too long,
Sitting, chatting, politely
About nothing in particular?
Shall we go now,
Into the part of us that is deep?
Or has it been too long
Standing, chatting lightly
Unable to find the door to that inner room.
Shall we go now?
I’m sure the door is unlocked.
I’d like to sit in there with you,
Gaze and share deeply
About everything in particular.
Shall we go now,
To the center of our vulnerability?
Or has it been too long
Waiting, carefully holding back,
Scared, yet yearning to touch our souls?
Come on! Let’s go now.
I could never be there too long
At the bottom of the heart
Sitting, speaking deeply,
Gently opening all the doors.
